IMPRSD Course Numbering System

The first digit of a course number describes the length of the course: 1 designates courses that are one or two weeks long, 2 designates courses that are more than two weeks long but less than a semester long, and 3 designates courses that run for an entire semester.

The next two digits describe the general topic of the course, as follows:

Credit

IMPRSD courses offered in Rostock will ordinarily require about four hours of work outside the classroom for every hour of instruction. Hence a course that meets for three hours per week for fifteen weeks would require approximately 180 hours of homework in addition to the 45 hours of classroom time, for a total of about 225 hours. In many university systems in Europe, course credits are assigned such that one credit corresponds to one week's full-time work for a normal student. In this case, a course with about 225 hours of work would be worth 5 or 6 such credits.
